Find Your Money
I want to keep this post brief because I whoops honestly let time slip by this week! So keeping with the theme of Needing more money (don’t we all?), below will consist of personal questions you can ask yourself to find your money!
1.) How much money do I bring home in a week? Bi-weekly? Monthly?
2.) How much money is used for monthly expenses? (Rent, Lights, Water, Gas, Wifi, Car Gas $)
3.) How much money do I spend on food in a week? Bi-Weekly? Monthly?
4.) How much do I spend at the grocery store? fast-food/sit down restaurants?
5.) Can I cook at home? If I cannot cook, am I willing to learn?
The first 4 out of 5 of these questions can be answered through your bank statements! Usually your bank at the end of the monthly cycle issues out a personal statement from your debit usage. (Before you answer these questions, I recommend you STOP withdrawing money from your account for cash if you know you struggle with keeping record of your finances.)
Analyze your account and see how much you deposit into it whether it is money from work or gifted.
Identify how much your rent (fixed) and your average utility bill is and minimize these costs.
You would be blown away by the amount of money we can spend eating out or in convenience (not cooking). Keep a pen and paper, or notes on your phone of the price each time you choose to eat out. You will see how you have been eating money. Literally. Really checking yourself about your food budget will bring more money to save and invest. It never fails.
If you say you cannot cook, find some local cooking classes and meet new people. If you cannot cook AND cant afford classes, Youtube is free! *Wifi not included*. Using these above tips will not only make you feel better about your money, it will hep you find your money!
